"This is a performance among baritones that I would place very near the top of the pile, if not at its apex."

Repertoire Lied

"A survey of the existing lied compositions is almost impossible. One can assume that many precious lied compositions are lying dormant in the archives and libraries.

Almost all composers have created art songs at a certain time in their lives, most of them when they were quite young, in love for the first time, or thru with love after the first disappointment. Most of them took a natural interest in lyrics, love of poems and ballads.

For me, Lied is the most interesting musical and particularly interpretive challenge for a singer.
Nowhere else does the singer meet with greater demands on his own emotions, experience, phantasy and creative and interpretive capacities."
