Pizarro at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg
L. v. Beethoven: Fidelio
On Saturday, 7 March 2026, the Mainfranken Theatre Würzburg will premiere a new production of
L. v. Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio.
Jochen Kupfer will perform the role of Pizarro.
Stage direction by Georg Rootering, musical direction by Mark Rohde.

In May 2025, Jochen Kupfer will make his role debut with the title role in Wagners Der fliegende Holländer.
The premiere of the new production at the Staatstheater Nürnberg under the musical direction of GMD Roland Böer
and directed by Anika Rutkofsky is on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

On May 2, 2025, BIS released a new recording of Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem
with the renowned Bach Collegium Japan under the direction of Masaaki Suzuki with Jochen Kupfer performing the baritone part.

Together with Finghin Collins on piano, he will be interpreting Schubert's song cycle Winterreise in Les Diablerets.
